Inside the Mathematical Pants

Since one of my readers asked what I did for the butt patch I am including it here:

Since the client did not want anything added to the outside, I first fused a tricot patch to the area and then used a cool piece of bias cut fabric from my friend Kath in Australia. The fabric is on the native theme and designed by Audrey Napanangka so I thought it added something special. The bias stretch of the patch will stretch and ease for sitting and front the outside you just see more of the repeated diamond stitching design. Some straight reinforcement stitching was added along the really worn edges but it should give these magical pants a little extra wearing life.

This client will be picking his pants up this week and his girlfriend who brought in the other nitty gritty pants will be having me make new wool/cashmere pants for her. At least the fabric will be clean!!!

Back to the Sunday sewing and more hems….
