Sometimes, I get a request for a special alteration from a former client to see if I can squeeze in one more for the month. This spectacular dress is from the brand Sincerity Bridal.
While the front view looks pretty good, a warning to brides who like to wear racer back tank tops…see the tan lines?
This voluminous train will need at least 5 bustle points and check out those butt pleats…this dress really flatters that area and draws attention!
The bride wants the lower portion of the skirt tightened up over the thighs to be more mermaid, too.
The bride will have to get higher heels to bring the front lace hem off the ground:
With the side seams taken in, and the final bustle preview, we have decided to make it a 7 point lace bustle along with a one-point satin bustle underneath.
We ended up with 7 lace bustle points and 7 lace covered buttons and 3 satin bustle points. The difference between what it looks like on a hanger is quite different from being on a real body!
Mr Mole planted yellow cauliflower seeds last September and we finally have something to harvest:
Just when I was coming to the end of the 12 June brides, this was delivered yesterday…what could it be?
Ten identical bridesmaid dresses for a long-time client. I have worked on the first 2 daughters’ wedding dresses ( https://fitforaqueen.wordpress.com/2013/11/01/make-mine-modest) and now her third girl needs my help. The dresses all have to have front inserts to cover the deep “V” cleavage, the front slit hand sewn shut another 8 inches and hidden cap sleeves to be attached under the shoulder flounces for church modesty rules.
With less than 2 weeks until the wedding, I won’t be getting much time in the garden to do any weeding, but with the temps so high right now…being inside suits me just fine!!!
Stay cool and keep sewing!
Yuck on your temperature. Kudos always on your expert sewing and solutions.
Anyone thinking of moving to our valley will discover that to grow pears and grapes and hemp…one needs high temps! You know we all look forward to Fall when everything cools down! Thanks, Donna!
Mrs. Mole. I quilt other people’s quilts. While there might be some ego involved, I was thinking – the EGO involved with the bridal gown ladies. OMG! And…..you magically make them look good because you’re a true magician with that needle, thread, and sewing machine!
All I can do is try to make the bride’s wishes come true. I don’t have to like or agree with their dress choices…they sometimes ask me what i think and then disregard it.
It’s wet and freezing cold here in Bewdley so I’m also happy to be indoors! Good luck getting all that sewing done 😊
This post definitely makes you glad to be retired, Kim! My daughter found a UK tailor to hem her dress for the wedding today in Bath. So grateful for all the suggestions from readers!
Here in Tennessee, the wind is blowing hard and the temperatures tomorrow will be in the upper forties 😩
Wow, guess not many gardeners would be happy with that cold weather for growing summer veggies!
Here in Australia we are getting some rain 😀yeh . Mrs Mole you are a wizard but I bet you grow very tired of pink over the next 2 weeks ! I am guessing the the venue for the brides wedding is not the same as the one for the bridesmaids . So many bridesmaids !
Yes, you are correct, Mem. The first 2 sisters’ weddings involved covered up wedding gowns and less bridesmaids. Maybe I forgot the adage, “be careful what you wish for”…adding a bit of color to my sewing room projects is one thing…getting in 10 dresses at once is another!!! Maybe it applies to rain as well…a little but not a lot!
higher heels, tighter skirt…..and no trips to the bathroom. Sounds like a long day but what a lovely dress.

You know these girls are a little crazy when you warn them that they will not be able to sit down or breath when they want things so tight and they reply, “I won’t be sitting or breathing”…oh well.
You inspire me to keep sewing! You are an amazing talent!
Sewing is one thing, reconstructing, redesigning and reverse engineering is another…ha ha. Reading other blogs and seeing much simpler projects makes me yearn for free time to make clothes for myself. Happy that you enjoy reading my posts, Mary.
Hidden cap sleeves! I hate when churches get legalistic. I’m sure you will fix them up and they will be beautiful. I’m currently in KY taking a tambour class! The weather is sooo cool compared to Atlanta.
What you are doing is a dream class!!! Sitting quietly and meditating and beading in cool weather! Have fun learning new techniques, Rena!
Oh my that’s hot weather! That’s the first time I’ve heard about Church rules! Is that common? I think the fluffy fabric is perfect for a fancy way to cover your arms.
I have worked on Jewish and Mormon wedding dresses which require more modesty than the majority of brides. There used to be a bridal salon that specialized in making their dresses “temple ready” for the ceremony. It usually involved attaching some sort of bolero jacket that covered arms and necklines.
